Introduction to vriskshasana
Vrikshasana is standing balancing posture,
Vrikshasana is very popular due to its amazing benefits.
Meaning:
Vriksh- Tree
Asana- Pose
It is basically called as Tree pose or Vrikshasana.
As mentioned in Bhagwad Geeta –
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन |
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि || 2/47 (B.G.)
(You have a right to perform your prescribed duties, but you are not entitled to the fruits of your actions. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the results of your activities, nor be attached to inaction.)
Vrikshasana Approach to karma yoga:
Now this is very interesting point about vrikshasana, we all already read ample of benefits about this asana, but vrikshasana has a very unique identity which makes this asana very unique that is “Karma Yoga Approach”.
Karma Yoga is one of the branch of yoga mentioned in “Bhagwad Geeta”.
A tree is the real karma yogi……….

Tree is the real karma yogi due to its giving nature; it gives us Flowers, fruits, Wood, Shadow and many more without any expectation. Tree never asks us anything in return. It is just giving.
While performing this asana one should not only think of getting physical benefits, this postures teach us how to give without any expectation. This posture teaches us to be real karma yogi. While doing this posture remember the qualities of the tree and contemplate them in your behavior.
